I have been very remiss in posting lately due to the illness and a mild obsession with a stressful situation at home. However things are on the improve all round. YAY!
This week I read something I wish I’d written – this very funny post by Tom Cardy

Kind of reminds me of Peter Peryer’s playfulness with scale.
Cheryl also discusses art displayed in real estate ads and home magazines which amused me as I’d just put away the Clairmonts (so as not to scare the horses) and another friend had put his artwork in storage while his house goes on the market. Why are we hiding? And who from? It did make me think that a savvy art thief might go through these online real estate tours or house and garden type mags picking out goodies for future ‘pickup’.

That guy that stored his art told me that he had seen at least 3 people visibly blanch at the sight of his art, something about the subversive lurking in a B&T.

:-) The questions were kind of rhetorical. I had a flatmate once who wouldn’t let me have the Clairmonts in ‘communal areas’ said they were ‘too disturbing’.

I left all our art up when we sold our place recently. Had more offers to buy works than we did to buy the house – including one “I’ll buy the house if you throw in that work”
Couldn’t sell any though.

I suspect it has a certain amount to do with who is viewing and what you are selling. City apartment – contemporary (challenging) art = ok. 1/4 acre in the suburbs – maybe tone it down a little :-) Who knows though. The end justifies the means? The Clairmonts are coming back out of the tardis soon
